A new Facebook application called Phone-Me-Now allows Facebook members to place free calls from their friends' Facebook profile pages, without revealing either party's caller ID.

National ISP Internode has reached a major milestone in its VoIP service roll-out and is now able to offer a full national reach for its NodePhone2 voice-over-broadband service. The service now extends to 2100 zones covering Australia's smallest regional areas.

Aussie VoIP Take-Up Still Low: ACMA

Despite high levels of interest and awareness, the Australian Communications and Media Authority says the take up of VoIP services in Australia is still comparatively low. New research from the Communications and Media Authority found that 81 per cent of Internet households were aware of VoIP but only 15 per cent of respondents and 13 per cent of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) had used a VoIP service.

Junior telco gotalk reckons there's an opportunity in the dispossessed. Describing Australia's leading VoIP Service provider as "troubled", presumably becuase it recently axed a number of staff to stem the flow of money from the business, gotalk CEO Steve Picton says Engin's 80,000 plus customer base is "particularly vulnerable at this time".
 
Freshtel Gets Firm Mobile Order From Tesco
