Engin Hires Former Virgin COO Print E-mail

Barry Evans, a founding member of Virgin Mobile Australia will join Voice over IP provider, engin, as its new Chief Operating Officer.

Evans was previously Chief Operating Officer at Virgin Mobile Australia where he held the role since 2000.

engin Chief Executive Officer, Ilkka Tales, said the new company’s new hire is “very significant for engin as he brings with him a proven track record combining business, technical, financial, and people management skills in leadership roles with both large and small companies across three international markets".

Evans has more than 20 years experience in IT gained across Australia, the US and the UK.

“As engin’s business continues to grow by delivering massive savings to home and small business users, we are certain that Barry’s outstanding expertise will help position engin strongly for the future,” said Tales.

Prior to his roles at engin and Virgin Mobile, Evans held several senior executive positions including Vice President at TSC, a leading systems integrator based in the United States and Europe, and seven years at Fujitsu culminating in his appointment to the role of Director of Networking Products.

In his new role Evans will be driving the engineering, IT, change management, logistics and operational aspects of the engin business.

In other news non-executive director (at large), Nigel Bramwell, who is based in the UK will step down to focus on business interests there.

 

The board is on the look out to replace him with somebody who can contribute to the strategic ambitions of engin.
