Telco services provider Telarus has signed on with VoIP hardware provider Zultys Technologies as a reseller and has announced its first deployment at Melbourne-based Nicholls Legal.

Keeping up with his customers Matthew Nicholls, Principal of Nicholls Legal, explained one of the reasons for moving to VoIP was to demonstrate a level of telephony professionalism and savvy for its telco customers.

"Many of our clients are in the telecommunications sector so it's important that we demonstrate a respect and understanding of their business.  They just wouldn't have the same confidence in us if we didn't handle their calls efficiently or were using out of date technology," said Nicholls.

The Zultys solution integrates Nicholls Legal's phone, instant messaging, voicemail and Internet access and allows for seamless, flexible remote working.

The Nicholls Legal team can configure their presence (whether they are available or busy), view the presence of others, send instant messages, set call handling preferences as well as access their voicemail, faxes and make or receive calls whether they are in the office or working from home.

Jules Rumsey, managing director of Telarus, said the addition of VoIP solutions rounds out the telco services offered by his firm.

"When tendering a proposal for large opportunities Telarus is often asked to deliver a complete solution, including a phone system.  The agreement with Zultys gives us the ability to confidently meet this requirement," he explained.

"We worked closely with Nicholls Legal to make sure that we delivered a solution that genuinely supports the growth of their business. The Zultys solution delivers everything they were hoping for and prepares them for the future, offering excellent investment protection," said Rumsey.

Telarus tied in the Zultys gear with its a VPN solution with integrated managed firewall to enable the remote access. The firewall is positioned in the core of the Telarus network so that all sites on the customer VPN have direct 10/100 Mb/s Ethernet access.

Tony Warhurst, director of business development, Oceania at Zultys Technologies Australia, said he was looking forward to working with Telarus.

"Jules and his team have earned a strong reputation with enterprise seeking effective voice and data services. It has been developed through a focus on delivering tailored services that meet current and longer term needs."
