Research and Markets has announced a new report VoIP versus Mobile, the Future of Enterprise Voice, which forecast the industry out till 2010. The focus is on Europe and Western European markets.
The researcher has looked into the migration to VoIP services and focuses on the network and technology issues for large (500+ employees) and medium (20-499 employees) sized organisations. Driven by the reduced development of traditional PBXs and the increase in mobile phone usage the report is designed to help comms managers in large and medium-sized organisations investigate their options for the upgrade or replacement of voice systems.
The report argues that while it is relatively easy to argue for migration to VoIP on the grounds of cost for contact centres, where everything is monitored, it is much harder to justify replacing the phone on every desk elsewhere. But as it points out the costs for calls to and from mobile phones are often running out of control.
The report looks at the drivers of change in enterprise networks and considers how voice technologies are evolving to meet those needs. It identifies the early adopter sectors for new voice systems and which areas of the organisation are the first to change, and spells out the roadmap for migration to VoIP.
It also identifies the market-leading services being launched in Europe for VoIP and mobile services. The strategic consequences of these changes are analysed from the point of view of fixed operators, mobile operators and systems integrators.
Areas covered by the report include France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Sweden, the UK and Western Europe. But it looks into issues such as available equipment for enterprise voice networks, management of those networks and connectivity options such as leased lines and VPN capacity.
