The code cutters at Skype have been hard at work, releasing the second Beta version of its softphone this week.

The pre-Beta version of Skype 2.6 arrived Skype only a day or so ago and now users have another Beta to play with - this time for the Pocket PC.

The release seems to be directed at fixing a few bugs, but there are a few new features of note.

The new version now puts the Skype icon directly on the device home screen, offers an enhanced version of the contact list which allows for the display of avatars and mood messages.

Group chat, SkypIn, Voicemail, Call forwarding, detailed search and the ability to update your profile by using the device's camera are all in the Beta 2.1.0.53 release.

You can get it here.
