Offering a secure connection for teleworkers and road warriors to access corporate data and - increasingly - enterprise voice switches gets a whole lot easier for Mitel customers.

The company has announced enterprise mobility solutions that embed the necessary VPN (Virtual Private Network) functionality right into a plug and play teleworker solution.
The Mitel Teleworker Solution integrates with Mitel's Managed Application Server, a multi-function network server solution that brigns together wired and wireless access, extends voice mail, conferencing and speech recognition to mobile devices regardless of service provider.

The Managed Application Server scales to 500 users and is designed for small and medium business or large enterprise looking to provide point solutions. Firewall security, centralised file management, virus protected e-mail system, and the teleworker support, come together in a remotely managed solution.

With teleworking a key to employee productivity improvements as well as an increasingly important part of business continuity planning, the Mitel Teleworker solution brings together unified communications with a collaboration platform that plugs into any broadband connection.

This eliminates the complications of setting up a separate firewall as 128-bit AES encrypted voice and data traffic between remote user and the Mitel Managed Applications Server is ready to go in the plug and play solution.

With the Your Assistant Softphone supporting presence and availability, secure Instant Messaging (IM) and file transfer, video, data sharing and full collaboration over the Mitel ICP systems the Mitel Mobility Solutions portfolio is designed to offer an integrated, end-to-end mobility solution almost out of the box.

In addition to the teleworker product, Mitel's mobility solutions include what Mitel calls its second generation Mobile Extension solution which extends PBX features and functionality to any mobile, home or wireless device.

This includes features like Calling Line ID to the mobile or remote device, call transfer, hold and conference codes, and the ability to establish a Quick Conference from any mobile device over the corporate network.
To reduce roaming and long distance charges, Mobile Extension can also be used in conjunction with enterprise hot-desking to seamlessly move phone calls from cell to desk phone in any enterprise location. The user simply logs in to the nearest Mitel IP Phone and takes control of the phone making it their extension number complete with their user profile.

Gwilym Funnell, Mitel Australia Managing Director commented, "Mitel's mobility solutions can help any business offer more flexible working arrangements. You can work anywhere, anytime - it's your choice.

"Keeping information secure has always been a challenge when using laptops, so Mitel has developed easy to use, encryption protected document sharing and communications solutions for employees working away from the office."
