NetComm's PoE Switch For SMEs Print E-mail

Australia's NetComm has been building a product portfolio of VoIP solutions and this latest 24-port Switch with PoE fits nicely in the company's SME range of networking gear to support that push.

Avoiding the need for dedicated power points or separate cabling in your VoIP deployment can cut down the ROI considerably if the cost of network hardware to provide power to voice/data nodes is kept down.

A new Power over Ethernet (PoE) switch - the NP2500PoE Websmart 24-port Switch from NetComm is designed to do just that.

With 24 Fast Ethernet (10/100) ports and 2 Gigabit ports (1,000 BASE-T), the NP2500PoE delivers data networking and power to a PoE-compatible networked device such as a VoIP Phone, Wireless Access Point or IP Network Camera using standard Cat 5 cable.

Priced at A$1199.00 (inc. GST), the NP2500PoE also supports non-PoE compatible devices so you can combine legacy devices on the one switch.

"The NP2500PoE is an ideal solution for a small or medium business that runs devices requiring PoE support - and it will save them money. This product has the potential to reduce installation and operating costs by 50 percent," said David Stewart, Managing Director, NetComm.

Network administrators can manually disable or set the speed for each port (flow control) for slower devices and the device also supports port trunking to use multiple ports to increase the bandwidth capacity for a device.

The business class device also supports port-based Virtual Local Area Networks (VLANs).
