Easier VoIP Setup With Pre-Configured Gateway Print E-mail

NETGEAR has announced a VOIP enabled ADSL2+ modem with service provider configuration built in to make signing up for a VOIP service plug and play.

The device comes pre-configured for either engin, Broadband Phone and MyNetFone, giving users the benefit of choosing a provider themselves.

"VoIP has never been easier. This product delivers a secure broadband wireless network with VoIP in the one box and users have the flexibility of choosing from a range of VoIP providers," said NETGEAR Asia pacific vice president, Ian McLean.

"The gateway takes all of the confusion out of VoIP, making it completely accessible to all consumers, regardless of their level of IT knowledge. Users have access to all the essential features needed to set up a network with VoIP without a clutter of unnecessary features."

Apart from the online help manual the device uses a Smart Wizard to escort the user through the setup process, vastly simplifying installation.

The DG834GV also has a PSTN/FXO port, which enables fallback to a regular phone line for emergency calling or in the instance of network outages or power failures.

Security features include VPN pass-through, NAT firewall with Stateful Packet Inspection (SPI) and Denial of Service (DoS) attack prevention, WEP and WPA encryption plus MAC Address Control.
