Engin has launched its first DECT cordless phone manufactured
by D-Link onto the Australian residential VoIP market. The new dual mode phone enables
Engin users to make and receive calls over either VoIP or traditional landline
without sacrificing mobility in the home.

The engin Internet Phone 221 is priced at $199 RRP direct
from Engin and will be available from late October. It will also be on shelves at
Harvey Norman and Powerhouse stores from early November.
The Engin Internet Phone 221 includes a range of additional
features such as hands-free speakerphone, phonebook to store contacts and
choice of 10 ring tones. It also includes voicemail, call forwarding, caller
ID, call line ID and turbo dialing.
"At Engin, we're committed to putting the huge cost savings
that our service delivers together with the latest, easy-to-use technology into
the hands of all Australians," said Ilkka Tales, CEO, Engin.
"Today's announcement is a significant step towards this
goal as we're integrating Internet telephony into the type of cordless phone
that Australians are already so familiar with. Aussies can now make an Internet
call on a cordless phone and not even know it - that is, until they get their
cheaper phone bill," he said.
Set up is a four step process that sounds easy enough for
most residential users to handle. 1. Plug in the power supply. 2. Plug in the base
unit. 3. Plug that into broadband and 4. Plug into your existing telephone
service.
