Network test and measurement specialist, Tektronix, has announced its
acquisition of VoIP monitoring outfit, Minacom.
Adding the latter's VoIP, voice, video, Internet, Fax, and
Fax-over-IP solutions to its own network monitoring systems.
The company says the combined products will provide an
integrated end-to-end NGN network and service quality test platform.
"We are committed to providing innovative NGN
solutions. This acquisition will enable Tektronix to offer both active and
passive probing capabilities for modern and legacy networks," said Rich
McBee, Senior VP and General Manager, Tektronix Communications Business.
"The integration of these products into one solution
will accelerate delivery of our product roadmaps in key areas such as IP voice,
video and data services and for access and edge network service management," he
said.
The deal will give Tektronix an entry into a new market with
Minacom's established presence with cable operators offering VoIP.
The deal should close within 30 days and will see Minacom's
35 existing employees become part of the Tektronix business and will continue
to be located in Montreal.
The Canadian testing company has an installed base in 30 countries worldwide.
"I am very excited about the products and technologies
this combination of companies will bring to our customers" said Michel
Nadeau, President and Founder of Minacom.
"Our customers want to work with fewer vendors with
broader solutions that cover key aspects of service delivery," he said.
