Users with PDA's and Smartphones running Windows Mobile 5.0 will soon have another softphone option, Mobile AGEphone.
From Japan-based ageet Corporation the new client will be available
from the end of November for a cost of US$40 a free Beta is available
to trial now.
AGEphone uses ageet's fully SIP compatible VoIP engine "microSIP Stack"
which ageet developed as an "extremely small, fast" stack particularly
suited for mobile devices.
"AGEphone for Windows Mobile 5.0 is targeted at the rapidly growing
market of Windows-based mobile phones and is intended to satisfy the
increased demand for VoIP applications for such devices," said Masato
Okazaki, Represantative Director at ageet Corporation.
"We have been developing AGEphone focussing on optimisation for popular
smartphones by HTC such as T-Mobile MDA or i-Mate devices while trying
to satisfy both the private end-user as well as the so-called Road
Warrior," he said.
AGEphone for Windows Mobile 5.0 offers most features that are also
available in the PC version of the softphone, such as recording of
voice messages and importing Outlook contacts.
The Address Book and Call History have been completely revised to
guarantee quick and comfortable access both with Stylus and QWERTY
keyboard. The graphical interface has also been optimised and now
offers an improved overview when the screen is in landscape mode.
