SingTel has outlined a roadmap for the introduction of quad play services and more for the nation Isle.

Even before Singapore gets fibre to the home (FTTH) residents can expect to be using a quad-play service from its national carrier that will include voice, data, video and mobile telephony today with additional features such as home security and home automation into the future.

Dubbed Generation mio, SingTel's new bundle brings the company's Internet and both fixed and mobile VoIP offerings into the home via a single box.

Allen Lew, SingTel's CEO Singapore said, "We are pleased to introduce Generation mio and give our residential customers the latest IP technology and mobile services, integrated on a single platform through the mio Box.

"This is just the start of the Generation mio experience, with more exciting services to come," he said.

The wireless home gateway at the centre of the solution will support broadband speeds of up to 25Mbps immediately.

Unlimited VoIP calls to domestic Singapore numbers (fixed and mobile) using a fixed home phone costs only S$15.75 per month and includes an Internet connection at 256Kbps with 50Mb usage.

For S$15 per month mio Mobile customers get unlimited local outgoing mobile calls both in the home or when at a SingTel hotspot (using a choice of three Nokia phones).

"SingTel recognises the opportunities with VoIP and has decided to seize them," said Lew.

"We were the first operator in the world to conduct a trial service for VoIP over our mobile network in October 2006.  Today, we are proud to launch not just mobile but fixed-line VoIP services with mio.

"Now, our customers have the freedom and flexibility to use either their mobile or fixed-line phones to make unlimited high quality Internet calls.

A three-month multi-million dollar marketing campaign, including four television commercials will help launch the new plans.
