Engin has announced a mobile VoIP solution in conjunction
with Nokia and the new Nseries WLAN capable mobile phone.
The N80 ‘multimedia computer' is a Quad band GSM/WCDMA and
WiFi capable phone released overseas third quarter last year.
Nokia and Engin have collaborated to bring a SIP client to
the N80 that will allow Engin customers to make VoIP calls using the wireless network
hotspots at work, at home or even public networks.
"People are increasingly using Internet Telephony to dramatically
reduce the cost of their home phone. Already more than one in four people are regularly
using their mobile devices to access the Internet which shows that the mass
market is recognising the value of convergent devices," said Ilkka Tales, CEO
of Engin.
"With the Nokia N80 Internet Edition you can seamlessly
blend together surfing the web and making cost-efficient Internet calls," he
said.
"With the proliferation of WiFi hot spots in the home,
office and public areas, people have increasing access to use the Nokia N80 to
make calls, no matter where they are over the Engin network at our lost cost
call rates," said Tales.
Calls using the N80 and a WLAN connection would be charged
at 10 cents for un-timed National calls and 20 cents for un-timed calls to 20 International
locations.
David Watkins, Director of Multimedia Sales for Nokia's APAC
region said, "Convergence is bringing more opportunities for consumers and
Nokia's NSeries opens up the possibilities of the Internet going. Engin's VoIP Internet
Phone service is a great example."
