VoIP infrastructure player, Symbio Networks, has established a POP in Auckland to service IP Telephony providers looking to offer trans-Tasman services.
The company figures the New Zealand market is ripe for expansion
with around 400,000 Kiwi's already living in Australia.
There's also an
increasing number of businesses operating both sides of the Tasman Sea
thanks to the long-standing Australia-New Zealand Closer Economic
Relations (CER) Trade Agreement, says Symbio.
The voice traffic
between the two countries has probably never been higher, but
trans-Tasman VoIP traffic is still in its infancy, says Symbio
Networks, Director, Rene Sugo.
"While the adoption of VoIP services
in New Zealand is on the rise for both residential and business use, we
expect to see a significant increase in traffic volumes thanks to the
improvement in voice quality and service reliability delivered by our
Auckland POP," said Sugo.
"We see great potential in the New Zealand
marketplace as there are few operators with the proven capabilities of
Symbio Networks," he said.
The New Zealand presence provides VoIP
service providers with control of both ends of their network, enabling
them to offer customers improved quality and reliability.
It also extends access to New Zealand Direct In Dial (DID) numbers.
"We look forward to welcoming new VoIP service providers on both sides of the Tasman to the Symbio network," said Sugo.
