Optus (SingTel) owned IT integration company, Alphawest, has become the first in Oceania to be certified in four Cisco Advanced Specialisations gaining accreditation in Advanced Unified Communications, Advanced Security, Advanced Wireless and Advanced Routing and Switching.

The Cisco Gold Partner has just added the Advanced Unified Communications specialisation to the three it already had on the wall.

The advanced specialisations recognise Cisco best practices and expertise in sales, technical skills and services capabilities to provide customers with integrated, collaborative, adaptive solutions.

"Alphawest should be commended for targeting these high growth markets and aggressively investing in the critical capabilities required to deliver robust and innovative business solutions to their customers," commented Cisco's Director - Channels Operations, Jeff Sheard.

Unified communications applications streamline business processes by integrating effective communication and collaboration solutions, including messaging, voice, video and Web conferencing, and unified communications clients.

These standards-based applications integrate with every day business tools such as Microsoft Outlook and IBM Lotus Notes, enabling the required tools, content and people to be quickly accessed based on an individual's own rules and preferences, regardless of location.

"Alphawest has extensive expertise in the delivery of integrated unified communications - including integrated voice, data, web and video solutions. We are committed to understanding and simplifying the network and communications platforms of our customers to offer improved, integrated and cost effective solutions that are scalable and flexible to grow with our customer needs.

"Alphawest has a substantial investment in delivering Cisco solutions that are industry best practice.  Our consistent national approach working with Cisco enables us to deliver resilient and scalable networks for our customers," said Garry Henley, Chief Executive Officer, Alphawest.
