New VoIP call recording software, from Arcosoft works with any SIP-based VoIP system. The centralised system works with port mirroring and without desktop client installation.
Previously available only for Windows, the VONaLink TeamRecord for Linux from
Arcosoft offers a way to record VoIP calls for an entire workgroup.
Recording calls is an important way to verify business transactions carried out on the phone and can also be used as a way to resolve cisputes with custeomrs or suppliers.
Traditional phone systems are easily recorded with either
generic analog equipment or with proprietary products from your PABX supplier, but recording calls in the VoIP world can be alittle more complicated.
As SIP is gaining prominence and more VoIP systems are being built on open, standard
protocols, there are more VoIP voice recording systems hitting the market.
Often thses systems recorded calls by digitally monitoring network packets rather than in any analogue way.
That's the way the TeamRecord system works,
It unobtrusively accesses voice data using the port
mirroring capability of a network switch. As this recording is done by picking up the call from standard networking equipment, there is no additional software needed on the desktop workstation.
The calls are recorded and stored as a stereo WAV or
MP3.
An inaudible watermark can also be added to the recording for later
verification that the file has not been changed. Users can listen to
recordings of their own calls from any web browser.
VONaLink TeamRecord runs on x86 Linux or Windows. Pricing
starts at US$500 for 5 phone licenses with each additional phone
license priced at US$100. YOu can also get an evaluation copy from the
company's website.
