A type of worm initially spread via email attachements has reportedly been re-worked to spread as a Skype chat messsage.

According to reports, the Warezov worm initially appeared in in September last year as an attachment to email messages that claimed they were security fixes. Some earlier version have used other Instant Messenger applications to spread, but now the worm has found itself onto the Skype network and is being spread by posing as a bogus Skype chat message.

The message reportedly urges the user to click on a link, which points to a hacker-controlled website hosting malicious codes. The attack is quite successful as the chat message appears to come from somebody in your contact list.

However according to this report "the abrupt dialogue it generates might trigger a few alarm bells".
