One of Europe's leading wholesale carriers, Tiscali International Network (TINet), has revealed IP traffic across its network increased significantly over the past year.

Traffic over the TINet IP/MPLS backbone, which extends over 19 countries in Europe, North America and Asia, achieved a 230% increase compared to 2005. As a result revenues also grew by 71% in 2006 over the previous year.

"Thanks to the recently opened Points of Presence in Hong Kong, Bratislava and Warsaw, our IP/MPLS and VoIP backbone today extends across Europe, North America and Asia", says Paolo Susnik, CEO of Tiscali International Network.

"The rationale for our growth plans is to serve new regions which have been characterised by a strong demand for broadband.  We intend to maintain our focus on our investments in network capacity upgrades to sustain the traffic growth we have experienced across most markets."

"We are pleased with the performance of TINet's unique business model which focuses exclusively on serving wholesale customers, despite the fierce competition and increased commoditisation of international wholesale services. We expect to double these figures again in 2007 and to benefit from the slowing pace of wholesale IP prices", Susnik continued.

In 2007, Tiscali International Network plans also to strengthen its presence in International Voice Termination market by leveraging the economics of its native Voice over IP network.
