Broadband phone start-up, SunRocket, has signed up its 200,000th
residential subscriber in the race for pure play VoIP providers rto
gain enough of a subscriber base to survive.
Targeting the huge US residential market in the faceof mounting
competition from Cable companies is a daunting task, but SunRocket
president and CEO, Lisa Hook seems happy with the progress.
"Building a 200,000 subscriber base from scratch in a relatively short
period of time demonstrates how rapidly consumers are embracing the
value, simplicity and enhanced feature set of SunRocket Internet phone
service," she said in a company statement. "And while category growth
has been impressive - approximately 10 million U.S. consumers subscribe
to VoIP - we have barely scraped the surface in a market with more than
50 million broadband households ready, willing and able to make the
switch to SunRocket."
In the next developmental phase, SunRocket plans to leverage what it
claims to be the industry's only 'all-IP network' to deliver a host of
compelling home-centric communications products, services and features
to consumers.
"Over the past year SunRocket has successfully assembled the category's
most dynamic and sound management team, featuring leaders with a proven
track record for scaling a business and carving a sustainable path to
profitability," said the CEO. "With all of these pieces in place and a steadily growing market, SunRocket continues to stand out among a small
handful of entrants communicating the value proposition of VoIP to
consumers in cities and neighborhoods throughout the country."
