After launching at the end of March 2006, web-activated VoIP service provider, Jajah has a customer list of more than two million users after its first full year of operation.

The service, which relies on a website to establish calls between users, so no equipment, headset or contract is required.

The service will also work with some smartphones (Blackberry, Treo, etc.), by visiting mobile.jajah.com to request the call.

Users visit the website and enter the number of the person they want to call. The system then calls them back on their designated phone and a voice prompt informs them that Jajah is placing the call to their destination.

Jajah claims to be the fastest growing new phone company in the world. "Users love the service because it does not require them to change their existing phone company or commit to a long-term contract," says Jajah co-founder Roman Scharf.

"We're glad to celebrate this milestone and thank the two million users who recognize that they can keep their number, their current phone and choose JAJAH to lower calling costs."

Calls to other registered Jajah users are free and calls to unregistered members cost on average 3 cents per minute to U.S. and Europe.

Jajah is available to Australian users. Calls from Australia to the US are US$0.035 and to China US$0.039 or free between active Jajah users.
