Ironically, the oceanic distributor for Voice over IP equipment maker, Shoretel is based in New Zealand yet the company has only just singed its first New Zealand-based resellers.
Announcing its first two reseller agreements in New Zealand ShoreTel's managing director of SE Asia, Tony Warhurst said: "The signing of these resellers was a direct result of the positive response and recognition of ShoreTel's high quality of service in the IP PBX sector.

"We are looking forward to working with our new resellers, Integral Technology Group and Gulf Networks, to provide a comprehensive VoIP solution for our customers."

Integral Technology Group, based in Auckland, is a premium provider of technology services including the support of mission critical enterprise servers. Integral has over 85 staff across Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch.

Gulf Networks Ltd., also based in Auckland, are specialists in designing, installing and maintaining local and wide-area computer networks for New Zealand businesses. Gulf Networks products can be divided into hardware, software and service products with business partners including Microsoft, Hewlett-Packard and Vodafone. Gulf Networks have about 2000 product lines ranging from servers, workstations, notebooks, routers and firewalls to small devices like handhelds.

Commenting on the signing, Uli Knapp, Director of Gulf Networks said: "As an IT provider, we feel that we are in the perfect position to extend the services that are already running on the business network. Including IP telephony in our product range was the next natural step for us.  ShoreTel insists that the performance of the entire network gets evaluated so that their product, as well as the existing data services, performs to expectations. We were impressed by that."

Gulf Networks and Integral Technology Group are the first two resellers for ShoreTel in New Zealand.  Connector Systems Ltd is the distributor for ShoreTel in Australia and New Zealand.
