ISPhone Releases Asterisk Connector for Service Providers Print E-mail

ISPhone has announced a new plug-in which allows Asterisk to operate with software that uses the RADIUS protocol. Dubbed Asterisk Connector, when it is installed on an Asterisk server, it provides a bridge between Asterisk and any RADIUS-based system.

This is good news for VoIP service providers with RADIUS-based billing systems becasue with Asterisk Connector they can use Asterisk with their RADIUS-based software. For example they could use it to get RADIUS to "talk to" the ISPhone VoIP-PRO and other RADIUS-based billing systems. Or ISPhone cna develop a plug-in for almost any software, says the company.

"Asterisk Connector fills an important market need," said Victor von Schlegell, ISPhone's president. "Many service providers have invested in billing systems based on RADIUS but want to use the Asterisk platform. To do so, they need software that enables Asterisk to 'talk to' their legacy systems. The Asterisk Connector fills this gap."
