Small business IP telephony equipment maker, ShoreTel, has appointed its first Australian distributor expanding its Oceanic channel in an effort to boost coverage outside the major eastern cities.

Although ShoreTel's existing distributor had exclusive rights to the product range in Australia, the New Zealand-based company didn't have the breadth Westan can deliver.

Under the new national agreement, Westan will get access to ShoreTel's product range nationally with its branch offices and warehousing facilities across NSW, Victoria, South Australia and Queensland.

Steve Timmerman, vice president of marketing at ShoreTel said, "The signing of Westan reaffirms ShoreTel's commitment to growing its channel partner base in Australia and New Zealand. We are looking forward to working with Westan and expanding our reseller channels nationally."

Patrick Micallef, director, business communications at Westan said, "The addition of ShoreTel's product range has signalled Westan's entry into the enterprise market. With our national distribution network and dedicated communications division, we hope to grow ShoreTel's marketshare substantially throughout Australia."
