In what must be an effort to shore up its market position in the medium term and make the most out of its established national data network, the Sydney-based VoIP services wholesaler, ISPhone Australasia, has announced an expansion of its national network with two new
POPs and added wholesale ADSL2+ DSL product to its price list.
Adding the ADSL2+ offering will dovetail nicely with the VoIP offerings for Internet Service Providers looking to expand into the two areas and may attract some BigPond wholesale customers.
ISPhone says the service will suit as a cost-effective access tail for SMBs which can connect a VoIP service without running it across the public Internet. This last mile product is just the first of a number of new service offerings due for completion in Q4 2007,
says ISPhone.
The company is also planning a national call collection and wholesale pre-select/override service and has also announced the launch of two new carrier-neutral points
of presence (POPs) - Global Switch in Sydney,
and Global Centre in Melbourne.
ISPhone Chief
Technology Officer James Spenceley says the addition of ADSL 2+ "is a clear
sign that ISPhone has successfully transitioned from business-grade provider to
wholesale telecommunications carrier. With these new services our ISP and ITSP
partners will be able to effectively compete with, and provide end-users an
alternative to, the established fixed-line providers."
The new POPs in Sydney and Melbourne are part of a network
build-out which will see a total of 14 across the country by June next year. It is part of ISPhone's bid to "get to the heart of the Internet in
Australia", said Spenceley.
"Global Switch and Global
Center respectively are Sydney and Melbourne's
largest carrier-neutral facilities. Through these new POPs our clients can
connect to us at much higher speeds without the added costs of a third-party
last mile provider," he said.
In addition to providing a business-grade VoIP network (including all
hardware, installation, connectivity, support, and billing), ISPhone says it supports
its channel partners by providing a range of individualised sales and
marketing tools to help grow their business.
