In what the company describes as a "concerted push" into the Australian Skype hardware business, audio accessories distibutor, Musicway has signed up to act as a distributor for Skype branded products in Australia.

The deal will cover things like Skype-certified Skype starter kits, webcams, headsets and more in regular retail outlets around the country, all supplied by theMelbourne-based distributor.

Musicway specialises in distributing accessory products to the audio, audio-visual, home DVD, in-car entertainment, MP3/MP4, television and video accessories markets. It distributes to thousands of bricks and mortar stockists across Australia and has been in business for over 30 years.

Musicway started out as an accessories reseller, progressively developing into a national importer and distributor for mobile lifestyle and music technology brands. The company was acquired by a subsidiary of Singapore-listed Fraser & Neave in 1985 and expanded.

"Our aim to supply 100 per cent of top sellers to our customers on time, all the time and this has helped us to establish strong partnerships with many globally popular brand-name accessory manufacturers and market their products successfully throughout Australia," says Musicway MD Mike Hollyman. "We carry almost 1,000 sku's in our range, including our own well established house-branded products."

Chris Lewis, Skype's head of Marketing & Business Development, Asia-Pacific said the partnership with Musicway "will ensure Australian consumers are able to buy products approved by Skype in numerous retail chains across the country."

"Many of the products under Musicway's remit were specifically designed for use with Skype and will only serve to further enrich the Australian Skype user experience."
