Quintum Technologies says it has completed beta testing of two new rapid deployment technologies that will allow service providersto deploy Tenors and remotely configure them avoiding costly on-site visits.

Available from October this year, the new features will mean rapid deployment of new customer services and greatly reduced installation costs. And, with Quintum's external Remote Management Session Server, even Tenors deployed behind enterprise NAT firewalls can be easily evaluated, upgraded and configured.

An auto-discovery interface allows service remotely identifies all Tenors being deployed on customer premises by their IP Address, serial number, software version, and description. This information is transmitted to the Configuration Manager GUI to allow configuration of individual Tenors.

A software interface that enables auto-provisioning in conjunction with the service provider's existing back-office systems is used to to send a signal from the new Tenor to the service provider's network where the service provider's existing back-office OAM&P (Operation, Administration, Maintenance and Provisioning) system can download of the relevant configuration file for that specific Tenor.

The central system will then download the specific configuration file to bring up that particular remote Tenor and connect it to the VoIP service. All provisioning interactions are carried out using standard secure signaling protocols with individual unit authentication to insure maximum system integrity. In addition to providing this rapid auto-provisioning service, this mechanism can also be used for automatic software upgrades and other system maintenance tasks.

"As VoIP is being adopted by mainstream business customers, service providers must be able to respond quickly to customer needs and minimize the cost of CPE deployment," said Chuck Rutledge, Vice President of Marketing at Quintum Technologies. "The Auto-discovery and Auto-provisioning features in the Tenor product line will support next generation service providers' ability to efficiently grow and support their customer base."
