Samsung Electronics has come up with a new spin on the PC monitor - make it a Skype phone. The two latest SyncMaster's come all ready for video conferencing with not only a built-in camera, but microphone and speaker making the deployment of desktop conferencing that much easier and neater.

Announced at IFA 2007 in Berlin the two 22" LCD monitors have simple networking modules embedded in them which enable the advanced functionality. The SyncMaster 220TN displays are smart enough, in fact, to operate as video phones without being connected to a personal computer - so long as they are connected to a LAN. The necessary software for video conferencing and video calls is preinstalled into the display.

The other new monitor, SyncMaster 225UW, is designed and optimized for Microsoft UC (Unified Communication)and uses its built-in camera, microphone and speaker to make video calls or to chat with traditional messenger systems such as MS Live Messenger and Skype.

Both monitors support high resolution of 1680x1050 and have USB hub functions with four USB ports and two, respectively.

Yun Ho Ha, Senior Vice President of Samsung's Visual Display Division said, "These monitors with VoIP functions unveiled at this IFA exhibition will become a must-have item for individual users and enterprises in the global era."
