German phone developer, snom technology AG, is running a contest, VoIP programmer community to develop new XML-Minibrowser applications for the company's 3xx series of phones.

Dubbed "eXtreMeLy snomlified!" the competition runs through to October 22 and the winners will receive phones, cameras and other goodies like an invitation to either Fall VON Boston 2007 or SIMO Madrid 2007.

The snom 3xx series, consisting the snom 300, 320, 360 and 370, have a permanent XML-Minibrowser and the company is hoping to come up with  working data screens that will work ideally on at least several of the models.

"This contest is an exciting approach to bridging the gap between the enterprise and grassroots programmers," said Michael Knieling, CFO and executive vice president of marketing and sales for snom. "We look forward to witnessing the innovative and cutting-edge applications the VoIP community has to offer our legacy IP phone se-ries."

Contestants may submit in two categories: Business Application and Lifestyle Appli-cation. Several factors will be considered when choosing the winners, including the number of snom phone models for which the application was programmed, the size of the application and various technical requirements. A prerequisite to participate is that the entry is published under the BSD licenses (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BSD_licenses).

A winner will be announced for each category prior to both the VON Fall Boston and SIMO Madrid exhibitions and invited to attend the respective events, where a demonstration of the winning applications will take place at an awards ceremony.

eXtreMeLy snomlified! Prizes for each category
· First place winners will receive a snom 370 phone and an invitation to either Fall VON Boston 2007 or SIMO Madrid 2007.

• Second prize for Business Application is an Epygi Quadro2x, sponsored by Epygi, and for Lifestyle Application is a MOBOTIX camera M22M-Sec-D22, sponsored by ABP Technology.
