Two announcements by consumer VoIP service provider MyNetFone set a new benchmark for residential and small business VoIP in Australia by providing a service that allows users to easily set up a system that will divert calls to any desired destination whether it is their mobile, landline or Voicemail.

The company is also set to announce today a new service called Global Access which will allow its customers to make VoIP calls on any phone for the price of a local call. With this service users must register the callerID of the phone they wish to use to access the service and then dial into the company's system before placing a call to the outside world.

This acts much like a phone card system, but the calls are charged direct to their MyNetPhone subscription and would be covered by their bundled free calls if applicable.

The two new services follow last week's announcement of the company's On-the-Go service for mobile VoIP calls over WiFi and 3G data using Nokia N-series and E-series phones, which are also charged back to their regular MyNetFone account.

With the Follow Me service customers are able to self manage and re-direct in real time their incoming calls to any desired destination globally - landline, mobile, mobile-VoIP, VoIP or Voicemail-to-email.

Subscribers must visit the company's website to access their 'MyAccount' portal to set up their desired redirects. In a demonstration of the new service Rene Sugo, Technical Director at MyNetFone told VoIP News the system could handle an unlimited number of redirects.

These are set up and changed with a simple point and click logic once your phone numbers have been input into the system. Then any incoming calls to their MyNetFone service number can be directed to a mobile or landline service on the public network within Australia or overseas.

With this service customers can ring multiple destination numbers sequentially based on various options, or to deposit a voicemail which will be delivered to their desktop email in real-time.

"This new Follow Me service is a tremendous value-add for MyNetFone customers. They can get their incoming calls to ‘follow' them wherever they go. For example when they leave the office, they can re-direct the incoming calls to their home phone or mobile phone.

"They can make the change through their My Account Portal in real-time. This self control function enables the customer to make the change themselves without having to go through a call centre. They can change the settings anywhere as long as they have access to the portal on the MyNetFone website." said Sugo.

"Customers now have a choice - they can have the calls go to voicemail, or they can activate the Follow Me service and decide how the calls should be handled."

The Global Access service is initially only available by calling local presence numbers in Sydney and Melbourne so users wishing to access the service outside these metro areas may incur additional Long Distance charges from their telephony provider. However,Sugo said the company was committed to roll this out so that local numbers were available across the country.

"We are very excited to launch this new innovative service. While the broadband uptake and the adoption of VoIP services in Australia is increasing daily, there are still a huge number of customers who have not yet connected to broadband for whatever reason and are still paying too much for their phone calls. Now MyNetFone lets them take advantage of the VoIP revolution quickly and easily thanks to our Global Access product.

"Customers can access MyNetFone's low call rates wherever they are, with whatever phone they have and make calls to anywhere in Australia or overseas without the need of broadband. Global Access customers do not need to change their existing service provider and the service would not interfere with it. We want to give our customers total convenience andflexibility and an experience they'll enjoy," he said.

The new services from MyNetFone show a new direction for the Australia consumer and SMB VoIP services industry which has for the most part focused on delivering profit crunching low-cost phone calls as their primary customer incentive. As more Unified Communications services service providers that offer them like MyNetFone will hope to attract subscribers more interested in functionality that the lowest possible cost.
