Boston-based NeoPhonetics has launched a new system which enables multiple sAsterisk sites and servers to be managed from a single central location.

Dubbed the  Unified Management System for Enterprise Asterisk systems, its said to be an industry first and takes Asterisk a step forward in the functionality it needs for large enterprise acceptance.

The company says its Unified Management System provides simple, non-technical, rapid deployment and maintenance of Asterisk across large enterprises - allowing for automated, Web-based configuration, provisioning of Asterisk/Polycom installations and even real-time monitoring of network performance and call quality.

It also supports redundant, distributed Asterisk servers to enable the construction of robust, enterprise-grade systems.

Other features include Automated provisioning of telephones, call routing and PBX configuration for rapid first boot installation and simplified ongoing maintenance. The system also supports call centers and integrated business processes based on SIP, XML and SQL open standards architectures.

"Like all of NeoPhonetics' best initiatives, the Unified Management System was driven by customer needs," said Chad Agate, CEO of NeoPhonetics. "Multi-site enterprise customers needed a centralized management system that simplified Asterisk installation and maintenance while also enabling advanced unified communications, call center functionality and VoIP monitoring and reporting. We didn't find a user interface with these features for redundant, multiple server systems, so a number of customers encouraged us to develop it, and here we are."

In addition to fulfilling the needs of enterprise customers, integrators and resellers will benefit from the Unified Management System as well. According to Agate, "Business development for this system is still in the early stages, as we have been focusing our efforts to date on perfecting the technology behind the solution. Now, we're looking forward to lively and productive conversations with the VoIP community on where and how to take this management system for Asterisk."
