Samsung has announced a
Video and VoIP-enabled network monitor for the thin-client market at
this year's CES show in Las Vegas. The SyncMaster
220TN display has a built-in web camera, microphone and speaker so that
it is able to do web conferencing as well as make phone calls.
The 22-inch wide screen is well equipped. The camera is 2.0M pixel
camera, the resolution is 1680 x 1050 (16:10 aspect
ratio) and the response time it 5ms. The contrast ratio is 700:1 and
brightness is 300cd/m2. The model is equipped to produce crisp,
true-to-life
images, while the wide 170/160 viewing angle further enhances the
overall viewing experience, says Samsung.
The monitor also incorporates dual inputs
for DVI-D and analog and is enabled to support multiple work
applications. As a thin client solution, the device is a
centrally-managed network
computer so there is no hard-disk drive. Leveraging a thin client
system,
the monitor not only facilitates streamlined communication - it also
facilitates increased security, since no application data resides in
the actual model.
On account of its thin client capabilities, the 220TN
is an ideal choice for applications that require secure deployment,
such as airport kiosks, hotel lobbies and hospitals.
"In an
increasingly globalised workforce, many professionals require a
simplified, cost-effective, yet reliable, medium for communicating with
co-workers and clients across the globe" said Young Bae, senior product
marketing manager, display products.
"With the SyncMaster 220TN
monitor, Samsung has delivered a streamlined, intuitive solution for
enterprise customers that demand a seamless and secure communication
experience, whether communicating across cubicles or across
continents."
The SyncMaster 220TN monitor is priced at US$1249
MSRP.
