ShoreTel has announced a six-line IP telephone, the ShorePhone IP 565g, which is equipped with a high-resolution color display, Gigabit Ethernet connectivity and new Bluetooth headset integration.

The IP phone is targeted at executives, busy secretaries and admin assistants. Along with support for six lines and Bluetooth headsets, the 565g adds greater flexibility and comfort for callers who spend a lot of time on the telephone, says the company.

ShoreTel says it is easy-to-use and as part of the company's unified communications solution, seamlessly integrates communications with business processes.

ShoreTel says the use of colour displays consumer electronics has set user expectations higher than a mono display can meet, but enterprise users will find be satisfied with tthe 565g with its high-resolution backlit colour screen which provides easy access to call information such as Caller ID, missed calls and voicemail indicators.

The built-in Gigabit Ethernet switch eliminates the need for multiple network drops to workspaces by extending full Gigabit speeds to the PC connected to the IP telephone's Ethernet switch. The ShorePhone IP 565g complements the mid-range ShorePhone IP 265 color telephone, giving customers color display options across the ShoreTel product line.

"ShoreTel continues to broaden its unified communications solutions to help businesses streamline their business processes and achieve the highest levels of employee productivity," said Steve Timmerman, vice president of marketing at ShoreTel. "With the unique combination of features in the ShorePhone IP 565g, ShoreTel has set a new standard for usability and manageability, and created a sophisticated telephone to help the most demanding users stay productive."

The ShorePhone IP 565g is a high-performance telephone with crystal-clear audio quality, featuring a wideband audio codec that supports seven full octaves of human sound.

A high fidelity, full-duplex speakerphone also delivers exceptionally clear audio. Like all ShorePhone IP telephones, the IP 565g simplifies telephony tasks including call transfer, conferencing, call pick up, call parking and intercom, even in multi-site enterprises. Plug-and-play installation, with automatic discovery and centralized management via ShoreWare Director, makes administration fast and easy. As new software releases become available, the IP telephone can be automatically updated via network downloads.

The ShorePhone IP 565g is available now in the U.S. Canada, Australia and EU countries and requires the latest ShoreTel system software release - ShoreTel 7.5.  Pricing is US $599, 480 euros, UK 310 pounds. Availability is expected in New Zealand later in the first quarter of 2008.
