A new Point-of-Presence (PoP) in Hobart, Tasmania could mean major savings for relatively remote retail VoIP customers of broadband phone company engine.

Based on customer surveys, callers in the Apple Isle could achieve savings as high as forty percent over traditional PSTN.

Adding Hobart to its list brings the number “engin cities” to 11 including, Brisbane, Gold Coast, Sydney, Melbourne, Canberra, Adelaide, Perth, Penrith, Gosford and Geelong.

Hobart's engin subscribers can make local and engin city calls for 10c untimed. National call rate have recently been reduced by 50% from 10 cents per minute to 5 cents per minute and international call rates have been reduced to 3.5 cents per minute from 5 cents to selected destinations: Canada, China, Germany, Hong Kong, Ireland, New Zealand, Singapore, Taiwan, UK and USA.
