Freshtel Enters US Market Print E-mail

Australian-listed VoIP service provider Freshtel has opened an office in Florida (of all places).

According to the report the company plans a two phase attack on the American market.

First job is to set up its IP network so that it can service the equipment manufacturers, service providers, retailers and other businesses it hopes to sign up to its service in the second phase.

The company has reportedly appointed Don Fowler as president of Freshtel Americas.

"VoIP has been very aggressively marketed here in the US and this has increased the understanding and acceptance of the technology - this is an ideal platform for Freshtel to launch from as well as capture a large share of the market," Fowler said in a company statment.

The US move is Freshtel’s second overseas posting this year. The company opened European offices in May.

However, the US beachhead may have its work cut out for it, service provider Vonage is firmly entrenched in the booming retail VoIP market there and Freshtel will have its work cut out for it from a branding perspective.

The company is likely hoping to find suitable partners with an established presence seeking to expand its offering.
