National calls at just 5 cents per minute was attractive, but engin’s switch to untimed national calls at just 10 cents is sure to raise some eyebrows at Telstra.

That’s not all though, the company is also pitching a new monthly plan where for $9.95 customers get the 10 cents untimed calls, 3.5 cents per minute to a range of common countries and free network calls to other engine users for customers with a Voice Box ATA.

Internationals included in the deal are Canada, China, Germany, Hong Kong, Ireland, New Zealand, Singapore, Taiwan, UK and USA (no connection fees apply). Another 26 international destinations attract a 4 cents per minute charge and calls to mobiles are 29 cents per minute.

Announcing the new rates engine also released key findings of a customer survey that found 54 per cent of respondents have made more than 40 per cent savings on their monthly phone bills; 86 per cent would definitely or probably recommend engin to others and 90 per cent of all respondents rated engin’s overall customer service as ‘Good to Excellent’.

The survey covered six per cent of the company’s customer base.
