Comms integrator Gen-i is a division of AAPT and therefore a part of New Zealand Telecom has signed up to Nortel’s nPower channel program.

Gen-i has been working closely with Nortel for the past five years providing voice and contact centre solutions to large corporations including one of Australia's largest financial institutions, says a statement without releasing the company name.

"As our customer base has grown, we decided that a direct relationship with Nortel was important and beneficial not only to Gen-i and Nortel, but most importantly to our clients," said Rhoda Holmes, general manager, Gen-i Australia. "Gen-i Australia becoming a Silver nPower Partner complements the Gold nPower Partnership in New Zealand between Nortel and our parent company, Telecom New Zealand Limited."

"We look forward to developing the convergence market together with Nortel, and to the many exclusive benefits of nPower membership."

The Nortel nPower Partner Program is a strategic Asia Pacific initiative designed to ensure regional partners have in-depth knowledge of Nortel's comprehensive voice and data products and the technology and support skills to help make enterprise customers successful.

The arrangement will allow Gen-i to better service its clients by up-skilling staff in Nortel products, receiving access to a Nortel account manager, sharing business development funds for joint marketing, and accessing Nortel pricing and configuration tools to accelerate speed to market.

"We continue to evaluate and refine our channel program and I'm delighted to welcome a quality organisation like Gen-i into the nPower fold," said Nick Avakian, general manager, Enterprise Networks, Australia and New Zealand, Nortel.

"I look forward to building on the synergies between our two organisations and the success we've already achieved."
