BT has today announced a US$21 million investment to axe its legacy TDM across more than 30 countries as part of its new generation network development - 21st Century Network (21CN).
Approximately half of the initial global rollout plan applies to Asia Pacific markets where the company has been experiencing an average 45 per cent year on year growth in overall voice traffic on its current voice network.
A total of seven nodes have already been rolled out across Asia Pacific markets including Australia, Singapore, Hong Kong, India and Japan.
The new network offers a “never before seen level of integration between applications and network services” says the company.
This is of particular benefit in the CRM area where a customer's CRM application can be integrated with the network delivering the business transformation required as well as delivering cost savings through rationalisation of their CRM infrastructure, says BT.
The new IP network will also allow BT to handle larger traffic volumes and provide enhanced features such as the ease of integration with any existing servers, standard interface for multiple applications, and the ability to deploy more integrated multimedia services such as audio and video conferencing, and video streaming.
