A leading SMB network hardware specialist, NETGEAR, has announced a major VoIP installation at Manning Shoes, a New South Wales-based retail chain.
Hoping to reduce call costs between its stores in the NSW towns of Taree, Forster and Port Macquarie, the shoe store chain was prompted to look at VoIP after deciding to install broadband for data communications.
“Once we had a good understanding of the way the VoIP system worked and felt we could trust the reliability of the VoIP phone, we really embraced the technology,” said Malcom Saad, Managing Director, Manning Shoes. “A lot of businesses simply aren’t aware of the benefits it can offer but our experience has shown it to be a reliable and easy-to-use solution which has really helped us in the way we run the business.”
Built using NETGEAR’s TA612V Broadband Voice Adaptor and serviced by NETGEAR partner and engine reseller, Ace Communications, the system has introduced new features and services not available to staff before, including voicemail, call waiting, caller ID and three-way conference calls.
The network also includes a selection of DG834G Wireless ADSL Firewall Routers for broadband connectivity.
“VoIP has provided us with an additional and cost effective channel of communication, allowing us to converse regularly across the network between the stores,” said Saad. “The deployment has not just reduced our telephone bills, but has made staff and management more aware of call costs without actually pointing the finger at any one person.”
Manning Shoes has been a NETGEAR customer for the past 15 years, originally being introduced to the products by Coastal Computer Solutions.
“We find NETGEAR products extremely straightforward to set up and use and this case has been no exception,” Saad said. “Our existing relationship with NETGEAR and its expertise in the networking area made our decision an easy one when we began going down the VoIP path.”
